Shari Kruyswijk moved to Lynden, WA a year ago and is excited about teaching first and second grade students at Cornerstone again. She grew up in Grand Rapids, MI and taught 2nd grade students for fifteen years at Heritage Christian School (Hudsonville, MI) since graduation from Calvin College in 1999. She received her masters degree from Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids in 2005 after a writing a thesis on reading comprehension strategies. She enjoys seeing students grow academically and spiritually and she frequently experiences the truth of 3 John 1:4 “I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.” Her goal is to help students realize that “the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom” (Psalm 111:10), and therefore her teaching is focused on Jesus as our Savior and the Word of God as our rule of faith, life, and learning as seen daily in the Christian School setting. Shari is a member of Lynden American Reformed Church. She recently married Dave Kruyswijk and enjoys playing music (piano and harp), reading, traveling and spending time with family.
